The implications here are far greater, as she was in danger of also losing her life.  In her work, she narrates the stages she went through in order to overcome the most terrifying of life experience a person can face: that of being told to have only one year to live.  The body of work ends at the stage in which she saw no way out and no hope, but also resignation.  She says of herself that only then was she able to fight back and regain control of her life, "Tthat was my exit from a room with no window to one full of light."
